Viele LGBTQIA-Personen aus dem Balkanraum leben in Wien. Der Balkan hat den Ruf ein ziemlich konservatives Umfeld zu sein, wenn es um die Rechte von queeren Menschen geht. Trotzdem ist die Balkan-Queer-Szene in Wien sehr dynamisch, spezifisch und viele Subkulturen treffen aufeinander. Obwohl viele LGBTQIA-Personen hier geboren wurden, ist es in vielen Kreisen immer noch tabu, queer zu sein. In Anbetracht dieses Tabus wird in diesen Kreisen über viele Themen nicht gesprochen, sodass sich die Emanzipation dieser Menschen verzögert.

Vier Autorinnen und Autoren lesen Texte zu queerer Migration und dem Balkan. Ziel ist es, die zentralen Probleme dieser Menschen sowohl auf dem Balkan und als MigrantInnen in Wien zu thematisieren. Nach der Migration in ein neues Land kommen bei queeren Menschen neue Probleme an die Oberfläche.

Balkan Queer Readings

Many LGBTQIA people from the Balkans live in Vienna. The Balkans has a reputation for being a fairly conservative environment when it comes to queer rights. Nevertheless, the Balkan queer scene in Vienna is very dynamic, specific and many subcultures meet. Although many LGBTQIA people were born here, being queer is still taboo in many circles. In view of this taboo, many topics are not discussed in these circles, so that the emancipation of these people is delayed.

Four authors read texts on queer migration and the Balkans. The aim is to address the central problems of these people both in the Balkans and as migrants in Vienna. After migrating to a new country, new problems come to the surface for queer people.
